MSU’s Kamfwa Driven to Improve Crop Yields in Zambia

Growing up in Zambia, Kelvin Kamfwa remembers watching his parents—small-scale farmers—struggle with low yields. Kamfwa is pursuing a doctorate in plant breeding, genetics, and biotechnology in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and hopes to apply his bean-breeding knowledge to increase productivity and drive down costs in his home country, helping farmers become food secure and prosperous.
