MSU faculty to share creative research in exhibition
The recent work of 25 art faculty members will be showcased at the Kresge Art Museum Sept. 11 through Oct. 10 as part of the 2010 Faculty Biennial Exhibition.
The exhibition is a collaborative effort between the Department of Art and Art History and the Kresge Art Museum. Every two years, the exhibition highlights the faculty's pursuit of creative research and expertise in a wide range of media and contemporary art approaches.
Michigan State University's art faculty makes significant contributions to the arts; they regularly exhibit in venues across the globe, from Michigan to New York to South Korea.
Collectively, they have received recognition and support from Fulbright, National Endowment for the Arts and the Pollack Krasner Foundation.
The public is invited to join the artists for an opening reception 7-9 p.m. Sept. 10.
At this year's exhibition, visitors may enjoy:
• Paintings by Tom Berding, d'Ann de Simone, Benjamin Duke, Teresa Dunn, James Fagan, Alisa Henriquez, Robert McCann, Britta Urness and Michelle Word;
• Ceramics by Paul Kotula, Jae Won Lee and Blake Williams;
• Sculpture by Laura Cloud and James Lawton;
• Graphic design by Chris Corneal, Joseph Kuszai, Kelly Salchow MacArthur, Rebecca Tegtmeyer and Chris Van Wyck;
• Electronic arts and intermedia by Adam Brown;
• Photographs by Sarah Buckius, Peter Glendinning and Danny Guthrie;
• Comics by Ryan Claytor; and
• Fibers by Xia Gao.
In conjunction with the Faculty Biennial, faculty members teaching art history and visual culture and apparel and textile design will present their scholarly research in a series of lectures throughout the 2010-11 academic year. Visit the website for a complete schedule.
Admission to Kresge Art Museum is free. It is located on the first floor of the Kresge Art Center, at the intersection of Auditorium and Physics roads, on the MSU campus.
