Lou Anna K. Simon

A letter from MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon:

Throughout its history, Michigan State University has proven to be a consistent innovator in many disciplines, including sustainability and resource conservation. As the world finds itself at a turning point in environmental decision-making, it has become more crucial than ever to continue this pattern of leadership in sustainability.

MSU’s 2014 Sustainability Report focuses on the top issues that must be faced head-on in order to satisfy environmental, social, and economic needs without compromise. This task will take dynamism and vision, characteristics that are nurtured within MSU’s culture of high performance. The projects and initiatives detailed in this report illustrate the great strides that already have been made by MSU, as well as improvements that must be made in order to fulfill the aggressive goals set forth in the fields of energy, waste reduction, water, transportation and engagement. As a university, we are tenacious. As a global contributor in environmental sustainability, we are a leader.

Spartans Will.
