Quantitative and Computational Animal Genomics
As part of MSU’s Global Impact Initiative, the Colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Natural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University are seeking to recruit three outstanding researchers in quantitative and computational animal genomics to join their Faculty at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level.
MSU recognizes that linking genomic, epigenomic and/or transcriptional variation to functional and phenotypic variation is one of the grand challenges in animal agriculture, biology and medicine. Thus, MSU will recruit outstanding researchers in quantitative /statistical genetics and bioinformatics interested in applications to animal breeding, veterinary medicine and management or animal conservation biology.
Candidates must possess a PhD in animal science, dairy science, genetics, bioinformatics or closely related disciplines. Candidates with experience in developing analysis methods for high throughput genomics data and/or with an interest in applied research at the interface of quantitative and molecular genomics using multilayered “omics data” are strongly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidates will join a dynamic group of faculty working in animal breeding and genetics, including molecular biologists, quantitative geneticists and animal breeders. Meaningful opportunities exist for collaboration on continuing projects in the genetics of reproduction, disease, feed efficiency, meat quality, and muscle biology, conservation biology, and animal behavior. Because this cluster hire is part of a university-wide initiative, there will be opportunities for joint appointments among several departments and with MSU AgBioResearch.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, teaching philosophy and contact information for three references to through the MSU Human Resources website at http://jobs.msu.edu/ (posting #2062). The review of applications will begin on February 15th, and it will continue until suitable candidates are identified. Questions regarding application to these positions should be emailed to Search Committee Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org.
