Engineer/Physicist Alumnus Joins MSU
Elias Garratt recently joined the Departments of Chemical Engineering & Material Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering, and MSU’s Fraunhofer Center for Coatings and Diamond Technologies as assistant professor.
A physicist by training, Garratt focuses on measurement science and analysis, applied research for electronic materials, scanning microscopy, ion beam technology, structure/property correlation to device performance. His work explores relationships between the structure of matter at the micro- and nano-scales to their properties as applied to transformative technologies like diamond electronics.
EDUCATION: PhD, condensed matter physics, Western Michigan University (2013); B.S., Physics, Michigan State University (2006)
