Faculty Position Posting in Global Nutrition
The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Michigan State University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate professor, academic-year (9-month) faculty position focused on solving problems at the interface of global food security, nutrition, and human health. This position is part of MSU’s Global Impact Initiative, and an emerging initiative in the area of Global Nutrition.
The successful candidate will link aspects of food security and nutrition to global health and welfare (economic and human development). This individual will conduct research focused on nutritional status of at-risk populations worldwide; health risks that may result from either under nutrition or over-nutrition (or both), and determinants of nutritional status in communities worldwide; both in the US and in other countries around the globe.
The focus may be on a variety of diverse topics, including but not limited to: child growth as a function of early nutrition, maternal nutrition and impacts on birth outcomes, nutritional impacts on infectious disease outcomes, the interaction of nutrition and hygiene, and the role of nutrition in the immune system.
The successful candidate will be expected to cooperate with and/or lead efforts on this campus to unite nutrition to global health; by developing a robust, collaborative, externally-funded research program (e.g., NIH, USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), advising graduate students, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses and curriculum development in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Michigan State University.
