MSU’s Furr-Holden Named Mott Endowed Professor

Debra Furr-Holden, Ph.D., was named a Charles Stewart Mott Endowed Professor of Public Health in Flint, Mich., on May 3, 2016. Furr-Holden is an expert in how the social and urban environments – including exposure to violence, alcohol, tobacco and drugs – influence health and health behavior.

One of her recent projects is representing MSU in an effort that is aimed at transforming how leaders from mid-size American cities work together to help low-income communities thrive called Invest Health. The project will pay particular attention to community features that drive health such as access to safe and affordable housing, places to play and exercise and quality jobs.
