Faculty Recognition

Michigan State University conducts world-class research and creative activity, ranking as one of the top global research universities in the world. MSU research excellence has been recognized through institutional membership in the American Association of Universities (AAU) since 1964.

The university attracts and welcomes an international community of outstanding graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and faculty visitors to a broad range of highly ranked graduate programs, research centers, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

National and international faculty awards are an important component of institutional reputation. Each year, Michigan State University faculty members earn a variety of honors for their scholarly contributions. Some receive prizes and awards from learned societies or government agencies for specific work or career contributions.

Conner Begins Term as President-Elect of the American Society of Naturalists

Three new officers elected last year by the American Society of Naturalists—ASN—have begun their terms. Among them is Jeff Conner, professor in Michigan State University’s Department of Plant Biology and resident faculty at the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station.

Society of Antiquaries Elects Watrall as First Fellow from MSU

The Society of Antiquaries elected Dr. Ethan Watrall, associate professor in the Michigan State University Department of Anthropology, as a fellow. The Society of Antiquaries was founded in 1707, and represents the oldest learned and prominent scholarly society focusing on heritage and archaeology.

Five Faculty Elected as 2022 Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science

Aguiar Ferreira Lab to Utilize Radioactive Isotopes in Cancer Treatments

Mahoney Establishes New Journal

Kristin Mahoney, Associate Professor in the Department of English at Michigan State University, has helped create a new journal that focuses on field-defining scholarship on the works, authors, artists, problems, and phenomena that defined the dynamic period from the late 19th century to the early 20th century.

MSU Research Foundation Awards $5M Grant to Fund Infrastructure, Research Focused on Plant Science, Global Sustainability
