Honoring Excellence

Michigan State University conducts world-class research and creative activity, ranking as one of the top research universities globally. MSU research excellence has been recognized through institutional membership in the American Association of Universities (AAU) since 1964.

The university attracts and welcomes an international community of outstanding graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and faculty visitors to a broad range of highly ranked graduate programs, research centers, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

National and international faculty awards are an important component of institutional reputation. Each year, Michigan State University faculty members earn a variety of honors for their scholarly contributions. Some receive prizes and awards from learned societies or government agencies for specific work or career contributions.

Elliott Receives Humboldt Research Award

Kevin Elliott, professor in Lyman Briggs College and the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, was recently awarded a Humboldt Research Award from the German government. This prestigious award recognizes researchers with outstanding international reputations as educators and scholars whose work has made a significant impact beyond their immediate fields.

Brandizzi Awarded the Professor Luigi Tartufari Prize by Accademia Nazionale Dei Lincei

Michigan State University Distinguished Professor and MSU Research Foundation Professor, Federica Brandizzi was awarded the Professor Luigi Tartufari Prize by the Accademia Nazionale Dei Lincei in November. The ceremony was held in Rome, Italy at the historic Palazzo Corsini on Nov. 7.

Rabnawaz named National Academy of Inventors Fellow

College of Arts and Letters Projects Supported by HARP Development and Production Awards

Henry Ford Health, MSU Announce 2024 Cancer Research Award Recipients

Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences has named the award recipients of the 2024 Cancer Seed Funding Program. Building on the success of the 2022 and 2023 cancer research pilot and integration award funding initiatives, this year the program awarded 14 new cancer research awards totaling $700,000.
