The Office of Research Regulatory Support promotes the responsible conduct of research, assures compliance with regulations and university policies, protects the rights and welfare of research subjects, protects public health and safety, and assures the objectivity and integrity of research.
Animal Care
MSU recognizes and embraces the fundamental interdependence of humans and animals and is committed to the core value of humane care and ethical use of all animals. Animal-related activities are an integral part of MSU’s teaching, research and outreach missions and help MSU advance the quality of life for people and animals.
Conflict Disclosure & Management
Conflict Disclosure and Management (CDM) provides guidance and assists MSU faculty, staff, and researchers with identifying, disclosing, and managing any outside activities and potential conflicts of interest.
Environmental Health & Safety
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) oversees university efforts to protect occupational health and the environment. EHS assists faculty and staff in maintaining safe, compliant workplaces.
Export Control & Trade Sanctions
Export Control and Trade Sanctions (ECTS) provides best practices, advice, and hands-on assistance to the MSU community for compliance with the U.S. Export Control Regulations.
Human Subjects
The MSU Human Research Protection Program's primary mission is the protection of individuals who are subjects of research.
Research Integrity
Safeguarding the integrity of research and creative activities is fundamental to the mission of MSU. All members of the MSU community share the responsibility to ensure that MSU's high standards for scholarly integrity are preserved.
Research Security
The Research Security Program helps MSU faculty and staff stay current with emerging federal guidelines and compliance standards related to outside influence on research, intellectual property, technology systems, and data security.
Stem Cell
Institutional Stem Cell Research provides oversight for human stem cell research conducted by MSU faculty, staff, and students.
University Research Organization
The University Research Organization enables faculty to pursue research in areas of national importance that are challenging or impossible under current MSU policies, particularly when review or restrictions on publication or considerations of citizenship status are involved.
