NSF Funding Opportunities Related to Coronavirus
On March 5, 2020, the National Science Foundation issued a Dear Colleague letter expressing NSF's interest in accepting proposals to conduct non-medical, non-clinical-care research that can be used immediately to better understand how to model and understand the spread of COVID-19; to inform and educate about the science of virus transmission and prevention; and to encourage the development of processes and actions to address this global challenge.
Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Deadline for 2020
Grant applications are still being accepted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the following Grand Challenges and Grand Challenges Explorations initiatives. The Grand Challenges family of initiatives fosters innovation to solve key global health and development problems. The application deadline is April 22, 2020.

Discretionary Funding Initiative Applications Due for Spring 2020
The Office for Research and Innovation (ORI) requests applications for the 2019-2020 Discretionary Funding Initiative (DFI). The Discretionary Funding Initiative, funded by the Michigan State University Foundation, provides bridge funds for tenure stream faculty for additional studies needed for resubmission of an unsuccessful, but nearly fundable application to the same program within an agency.
MSU Animal Care Welcomes AAALAC for Accreditation Site Visit
The triennial accreditation visit for review of the MSU animal research program was conducted on campus by a team from the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) during the week of February 17, 2020.
