Deadline extended to May 24, 2024
CIRCLE is excited to welcome submissions for our inaugural scholar-in-residence (2024-25). This is a research-focused opportunity for an MSU faculty member to work with CIRCLE leadership to develop new scholarship on interdisciplinarity. The residency will support 25% of the faculty member’s time to facilitate research that may not be well supported in their home unit or that requires dedicated attention to progress. This is an excellent chance for early career faculty who want to develop a research program focused on interdisciplinarity or for more seasoned faculty who want to move in a new direction related to interdisciplinary research and collaborative process.
We anticipate the scholar-in-residence will work with CIRCLE leadership to conduct original research on both their own work and on collaborative CIRCLE projects.
Research areas of interest include:
- Science of team science
- Interdisciplinary studies (interdisciplinary process, environments, evaluation, teaching & learning)
- Arts-humanities-science integration
- Integrated approaches to sustainability change
- Social-ecological problem solving
To qualify for the residency, the faculty member must have a portion of their appointment dedicated to research and the support of their department chair and/or dean.
To apply, please submit materials to ori.circle@msu.edu with the subject heading “CIRCLE Scholar-in-Residence” by May 24, 2024.
Include the following in your application:
- A letter of interest that describes:
- why you are excited about this opportunity
- your current research focus
- how your work relates to research on interdisciplinarity and/or how you intend to shift your work to focus in this area
- what you hope to accomplish during your residency
- A letter of support from a dean or department chair indicating they agree to release 25% of your time for a research-based residency, including approval for any necessary course releases (this may be sent separately by your administrator).
- A current CV
- A current example of your research (an article, book chapter, or other representative piece of scholarship). Please limit your submission to one example.
