The Institute for Global Health (IGH) invites you to participate on September 15, from 12:00-1:45 PM, in the International Center's Room 115 for a team-building event on “Climate Change and Health,” sponsored by the Office of Research and Innovation. This event aims to create an opportunity for MSU researchers to meet, exchange ideas, share research, and form transdisciplinary teams to respond to various grant calls and opportunities to address climate change and health challenges.

Dynamic scholars from MSU have been invited to share their research and projects on the impact of climate change. The event will start with short presentations given by these scholars:

  • Jiquan Chen: Climate Change: Disrupting the Norms
  • Emilie Smith: Community-engaged Approaches with Children and Families: Fostering Empowerment and Mental Health in the Midst of Challenge
  • Jennifer Carrera: Supporting Communities, Which Already Face Multiple Urgent Challenges, to Engage in Climate Change Action
  • Leo Zulu: Energy use, Food Security, and Climate Change in rural communities in Southern Africa
  • Kenny Briceno: Climate Change, Emergence and Re-emergence of Infectious Diseases in Peru
  • Farha Abbasi: Mental Health among Displaced Peoples
  • Fei Sun: Climate Change and Adaptive Aging

During the second part of the event, the audience will join the sub-group discussions on these themes:

  • Migration and displacement
  • Mental health
  • Food security and nutrition
  • Vulnerable populations
  • Vector-borne diseases
  • Ecosystem and biodiversity effects

This is an in-person event. However, people can watch and ask questions via Zoom. The link will be sent after we receive registrations.
