THIS EVENT IS BEING RESCHEDULED FOR MARCH 8, 2024

The Evolution and Future of Work initiative will be holding a day long convening for the university community on Friday, March 8, at the Kellogg Center. This convening will bring together industry leaders, faculty from different disciplines, and leaders from funding agencies. The goal is to bring MSU and other university researchers together and encourage interaction to increase joint research opportunities. There will be significant time during the day for researchers to talk and share their ideas with one another. In addition, there will be plenary sessions that involve practitioners to start building connections with industry as well as funders to discuss opportunities for grants that could be impactful in this topic area.

• 8:00 am: Registration/Light Breakfast Big Ten C
• 8:40 am: Welcome and Introduction - Professor Peter Berg, Director of the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations
• 8:50 am: Opening Remarks - University Interim Provost Thomas Jeitschko
• 9:00 am - 10:15 am: Opening Plenary - Moderated discussions with industry and policy leaders
  • Tim Richmond, Chief HR Officer of AbbVie Pharmaceuticals
  • Jennifer Waldo, Chief People and Employee Experiences Officer, Ford Motor Company
  • Ed Loya, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Dell Corporation
  • Kerry Ebersole Singh, Chief Talent Solutions and Engagement Officer, Michigan Economic Development Corporation
• 10:30 am - 12:30 pm: Speed Sharing Rooms 104 and 105 - Research speed sharing. Each person will share a short statement on why they are here and their research interests. Divide participants into two groups of twenty-five. Five minutes with each person and then move to the next person. Rotate rooms at 50 minutes.
• 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm: Lunch Red Cedar AB
• 1:45 pm – 2:30 pm: Breakout by Research Themes Rooms 103A, 103B, 110, Willy Room
  
  Divide groups into the following thematic areas:
  1. The development and impact of new technology on work.
  2. Assessing the impact of emerging forms of work practices on workers.
  3. Enhancing the skills of workers in and out of the workplace.
  4. Social Justice and Equity in the labor market.

Participants select themes at the time of online registration. Discussion will focus on the state of research and gaps in that area, and opportunities for collaboration where MSU has strengths.
