Dr. Jim Pivarnik has been the Research Integrity Officer (RIO) of MSU for 15 years and will be retiring in May 2022.  Integrity in research and creative activities is fundamental to the mission of Michigan State University.  MSU is required to establish and abide by uniform policies and procedures for investigating and reporting instances of alleged or apparent misconduct involving research and related activities.  Oversight of these activities is led by the MSU RIO (https://rio.msu.edu/).

 This is an internal search, therefore only current MSU employees are eligible to apply.  The search committee looks forward to reviewing applications beginning January 4, 2022.

 Requirements of note include: 

-Candidates must be a Full Professor 

-Candidates ideally come from the Biomedical Sciences or a STEM discipline. Familiarity with grants from federal agencies is desired because of the RIO’s reporting requirements to Federal agencies that fund projects at MSU 

 Important information about the RIO position: 

-The RIO will receive and evaluate allegations of research misconduct and manage further inquiry and investigation into these allegations as the specific case requires

-This is a 50% position, reporting to the Vice President for Research and Innovation (VPRI) and the President
