Jessica Swartz has been named as the new Director of Conflict Disclosure Management at MSU. For the past five years, she served as Deputy General Counsel at Western Michigan University, where she gained detailed knowledge of the workings of a research intensive institution. She was responsible for developing and revising university policies, including the Conflict of Interest Policies for Employees, Senior Administrators, and the Board of Trustees. Prior to Western, she worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. She served as a Designated Ethics Official and reviewed conflict of interest disclosures from employees across the entire agency, including researchers who had dual appointments with universities and academic medical centers. She is a proud Spartan graduate and is enthusiastic about joining the Office of Research Regulatory Support on August 22.
