Fulbright Virtual Presentation- Michigan State University

Fulbright Virtual Presentation- Michigan State University

March 21, 2022

MSU continues to lead in its Fulbright Scholar numbers, with over 450 Scholars awarded grants to nearly 100 countries since Fulbright’s inception 75 years ago. Last week, we were named a Top Producing institution of Fulbright Scholars for the eighth consecutive year, a record unmatched by any research institution in the same time period.

MSU will host a virtual information session for potential Fulbright Scholar applicants on March 21. The session will be led by an outreach and recruitment specialist from the Institute of International Education, with MSU’s Scholar Liaison available for MSU-related questions.

Fulbright facts:

  • Fulbright is a prestigious grant program funded by the US Department of State that enables US citizen faculty and other professionals to do research and/or teach in some 150 countries.
  • Fulbright Scholar grants range from a few months to a full year and many awards offer flexible durations; some offer a Flex option designed for Scholars who require multiple visits to the host country.
  • Awards vary, but generally provide round-trip airfare and a maintenance allowance based on living costs in the host country (including for accompanying dependents).
  • The competition opened in February; the national deadline is September 15 for most programs.

In addition, the Fulbright US Scholar program website is rich with details and resources, and the MSU Fulbright website provides campus-related information for potential applicants.
