The URO has created a no-cost extension request form that outlines what is needed to complete the request. Once you have completed the form, please forward to uro@msu.edu. We will review, ask any additional questions needed and forward to CGA for processing.
If they are working on the project 100% of the time, their current appointment will need to be transferred to the URO.
If they are working on multiple accounts, the account will need to be added to their appointment based on the percentage allocation that is provided by the faculty member. Their appointment will remain with the home unit.
If the employee is working on both URO and non-URO accounts, the employee will have two separate appointments in EBS to record their time. Their appointments may be similar in nature, same position, and same pay. When an appointment is created, it is based on an organization code and only those in that organization code can see those timesheets. Therefore, by having two separate appointments, both units can review those timesheets.
If they are working on the project 100% of the time, their current appointment will need to be transferred to the URO.
If they are working on multiple accounts, the URO will work with HR to add a concurrent appointment.
If we will be hiring for this position, the URO will post the position as well as create the appointment.
Correct, both appointments will be available to the faculty member to review and approve in EBS. If you have any issues viewing your student’s timesheet in EBS, please reach out to uro@msu.edu for assistance.
MSU HR has provided step-by-step instruction on how to approve employee time on their website. Employee hours must be reviewed and approved before noon on the time due date. The MSU payroll schedule lists the time due date.
To request a new individual to be assigned to your URO account, please complete the Hourly Hiring Form under the Commonly Used Forms tab. There are two separate sections that will need to be completed: one by the faculty member and the other by the new employee. The forms contain pertinent information related to the job position (completed by the faculty member) and personnel information (completed by the new employee) required to create the appointment in the EBS system. Both forms are sent directly to the URO for review.
