The Trifecta Initiative Facilitating Fund (TIFF) Awards are designed to provide investigators from the Trifecta Initiative colleges (Communications Arts & Sciences, Engineering, and Nursing) with resources towards federally funded NIH/NSF proposals.

Craig Carpenter, an assistant professor in the Michigan State University Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, has been given the 2024 Geoffrey J.D. Hewings Award by the North American Regional Science Council.

Jade Mitchell, professor and associate department chair in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University, was appointed to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board, or SAB, and Chemical Assessment Advisory Committee. Hui Li, professor in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences was appointed to the SAB and to the Agricultural Sciences Committee.

For 17 years, the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Corewell Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, have funded more than $27 million in exploratory and developmental research projects that have brought together the clinical and scientific strengths of both institutions.

This funding opportunity supports Henry Ford and MSU scientists coming together through multi-team, formal and/or informal meetings to explore new collaborations and bolster novel scientific communities.

Three researchers in the MSU College of Engineering have received National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development, or CAREER, program awards and will advance their research efforts with a combined $1.7 million over the next five years.
