Three researchers in the MSU College of Engineering have received National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development, or CAREER, program awards and will advance their research efforts with a combined $1.7 million over the next five years.

For the seventh consecutive year, the Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Michigan State University has been recognized as a national leader in entrepreneurship education in the United States. The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine ranked MSU No. 4 in the Midwest and No. 11 in the U.S., up from No. 13.

Three Michigan State University College of Nursing faculty members, Dawn Goldstein, Kathleen Poindexter and Courtney Sullivan, are among those in the new class of fellows in the American Academy of Nursing, or AAN. The honor is among the highest a nursing educator can receive.

Composer, Associate Professor of Composition and Chair of the Composition Area at Michigan State University David Biedenbender has won the prestigious 2024 Sousa-ABA-Ostwald Award for his trumpet concerto River of Time. This achievement highlights not only his individual talent but also the vibrant and innovative culture within MSU’s College of Music.

University Distinguished Professor and Chairperson Emerita Deborah J. Feltz received the 2024 Hetherington Award from the National Academy of Kinesiology.

stef m. shuster, associate professor of sociology in Michigan State University’s Lyman Briggs College and Department of Sociology, has been awarded a competitive 2024 National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship for their research.

A faculty member with the Michigan State University College of Nursing was recently awarded a DAISY Award, one of the most well-known and respected awards in the field. Angella Ruley, an assistant professor and assistant director of the Nurse Anesthesiology program, received the honor, which is given to nurses who display “extraordinary care.”

Michael Sant’Ambrogio has been recommended to serve as dean of Michigan State University’s College of Law, effective Oct. 25, 2024.  

Vashti Sawtelle, associate professor of physics, has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

“Creativity in the Time of COVID-19: Art as Medicine,” a four-year project that began in January 2021 at Michigan State University’s College of Arts and Letters received support from a $3 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
