Interdisciplinary Forum: Humanities and the Health Sciences

3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Kellogg Center, Riverside Room Directions to event location

Interdisciplinary and interprofessional work between the artists, social scientists, and humanists, and basic and clinical scientists help researchers express and promote various dimensions of health and wellbeing. The goal of this interdisciplinary forum will be to connect researchers in the health sciences with humanities researchers who seek to enhance patient care, improve the quality and scope of research proposals, and strengthen education strategies for MSU students.

  • Elahe Crockett, Program Director of REPID (Research Education Program to Increase Diversity in Health Researchers) Program, Division of Cardiology, and Professor of Medicine
  • Williams Hart-Davidson, Associate Professor, Department of Writing, Rhetoric and American Cultures and Associate Dean of Graduate Education, College of Arts and Letters
  • Robert Root-Bernstein, Professor of Physiology
  • Devan Stahl, Center for Ethics and Humanities in the Life Sciences, Department of Pediatrics and Human Development and Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy

Join us in discussing how the humanities can situate medicine in its broader social context, help healthcare providers improve the delivery of healthcare, and enhance public understanding of the human response to disease.
