Modeling Nanoscale Electrical Contacts

Ph.D. candidate Sneha Banerjee, presents an overview of her research to the MSU Board of Trustees on April 16, 2021.

Introduction by Doug Gage, interim vice president for Research & Innovation:

As we celebrate the success of our graduates and the completion of another academic year, it is also our tradition to highlight exceptional student research during the April Board of Trustees meeting.

Our research speaker today is Sneha Benerjee. She is a PhD candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering.

Sneha received her Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, India, in 2012 and a Master of Science in Radio Physics and Electronics from the University of Calcutta, India, in 2015. Her current research interests include quantum tunnelling in metal-insulator-metal junctions, electron emission, and contact engineering.  

She is a recipient of Michigan Institute of Plasma Science and Engineering (MIPSE) Graduate Fellowship Award in 2020-2021, the 2020 MIPSE Graduate Student Symposium Best Presentation Award, the 2020-2021 Michigan State University Electrical Engineering Outstanding Graduate Student Award, and the 2021 IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) Graduate Student Award.

Sneha was also the Founder of IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Student Chapter at Michigan State University (Feb 2020) and has served as the President since its founding.
