The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation is pleased to announce the appointment of John Goudreau D.O., Ph.D.  as the new director of the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) at Michigan State University.

Goudreau comes with an outstanding background in basic, translational and clinical research. He joined the MSU faculty in July of 2001 and is an associate professor in the Departments of Neurology and Ophthalmology, and Pharmacology and Toxicology. He is a physician-scientist and recognized expert in Parkinson’s disease.

Goudreau was also recently named the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and co-directs the college’s D.O./Ph.D. training programs.

Choosing a new leader for CTSI renews the university’s commitment to expanding clinical and translational research.

“Goudreau’s unique qualifications will be invaluable to strengthening CTSI’s position as a research institute and professional resource for university investigators,” said Stephen Hsu, Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation.

Goudreau has previously held roles as an NIH funded preclinical researcher and as a clinical researcher leading multiple NIH and industry sponsored clinical trials. His CTSI background includes work with the Office of Clinical Research and the Biomedical Research Informatics Core, both of which serve the data needs of investigators, including database building, storage and security, and custom applications development.

“I am very pleased to have Dr. Goudreau selected as the next director of CTSI,” stated Andrea Amalfitano, dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine. “His expertise will allow MSU to dramatically leap forward in its efforts to expand translational research and improve the health outcomes of the citizens we serve.”
