MSU’s Human research Protection Program (HRPP) is accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc.(R) or AAHRPP. As the "gold seal," AAHRPP accreditation offers assurances—to research participants, researchers, sponsors, government regulators, and the general public—that an organization's human research protection program (HRPP) is focused first and foremost on excellence.
Organizations must undergo reaccreditation every five years. The required site visit was conducted remotely on November 16 – 18, 2022 and involved records review along with two AAHRPP site visitors meeting with over 50 researchers, research staff, IRB members, HRPP staff, and other MSU administrators.
The site visitors provided no areas of concern and noted several strengths including a collaborative environment, integration of the different parts of the HRPP, and the functions of the HRPP Compliance Office. In late December, the AAHRPP Council on Accreditation met to approve and award MSU's accreditation.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in the re-accreditation process and the site visit - the visit went as smoothly as it did because of their contributions, time, and effort. A special thanks to Becky Gore and Judy McMillan, HRPP Managers, for all their work throughout the process, especially as we prepared for a remote visit for the first time.”
