Sustainability scholar Jianguo "Jack" Liu has been elected to the prestigious Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, a new honor he received while attending ceremonies to receive the Gunnerus Award in Sustainability Science.

The society was founded in 1760 and is Norway's oldest scientific and scholarly institution. Its membership consists of members elected for life among the country's and the world’s most prominent scholars and scientists. The society's Protector is King Harald V of Norway.
