Many federal agencies are starting to require ORCID ID as the Persistent Identifier (PID) on some federal forms (e.g. Current and Pending Support and Biographical Sketch).  

ORCID ID is a free persistent identifier that may obtained on the ORCID website.  It is recommended that you register for an ORCID ID as soon as possible in order to be prepared for upcoming proposal or award requirements.
