Michigan State University is conducting a comprehensive, national search for its next Vice President for Research and Innovation.
Doug Gage, Vice President for Research and Innovation (VPRI), will be transitioning into retirement in the coming months. Gage has served in the VPRI role for more than five years and has made extraordinary contributions to MSU’s research enterprise. He takes great pride in the team he has assembled, and the accomplishments achieved under his leadership, including research expenditure growth, new facilities, a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship community, faculty hires through the Global Impact Initiative program, and managing a complex compliance environment. His leadership has strengthened support for our colleges, faculty, students, and staff, and the success of MSU’s research enterprise reflects the dedication of the entire community.
To guide the search for the next VPRI, a search committee has been formed and will be chaired by Amy Hertel, Senior Advisor to the Provost for Strategic Initiatives. Please find the full list of committee members and future updates on the VPRI search webpage hosted by the Office of the President.
The MSU community is encouraged to submit nominations for candidates for the VPRI position to the search consultant at MSU.VPRI@russellreynolds.com. Please nominate individuals who would be strong candidates even if they may not be considering a new opportunity, and be sure to provide the nominee’s name and current institution/organization. The search consultant will contact nominees to invite them to submit their CVs if they are interested.
