Climate Justice and Environmental Ethics

A continuation of the Campus Convening on Climate held in April 2022, this event will provide an opportunity for researchers from across disciplines to discuss climate change in the context of societal impacts, and to connect with faculty from the social sciences, humanities, and STEM fields. A panel discussion and Q&A with experts in climate justice and environmental ethics will kick off the agenda, followed by an introduction and overview of an open call for Concept Papers for new, collaborative research projects funded by the Office of Research and Innovation, and respective colleges. The afternoon will conclude with open time for networking.

Convening Agenda

The agenda for the afternoon involves three components and their approximate length is shown in parentheses: 

  1. The panel with a brief discussion (60 minutes);
  2. An introduction and overview of an open call for Concept Papers for new, collaborative research projects in climate justice and environmental ethics funded by the Office of Research and Innovation, and respective colleges (30 minutes)
  3. Open time for networking (30 minutes).

  • Dr. Jennifer Carrera, Assistant Professor Sociology and Environmental Science and Policy Program
  • Dr. Amber Pearson, Associate Professor Geography Environment Spatial Sciences
  • Dr. Gretel Van Wieren, Professor Religious Studies and Philosophy
Respondent and facilitators

Dr. Elizabeth Mack will serve as the respondent for the event along with convening facilitators Dr. Anna Maria Santiago and Dr. Bill Hart-Davidson.
