Software is a crucial part of research and instruction, and the need to develop custom software (or modify existing tools for a new purpose) is increasingly a core component in the engine of innovation and scholarship at our university. Many individuals across campus in diverse roles spend significant time on software development for their scholarly activities.
Many of these individuals may be the only member of their research team who develops software. ICER is building an informal community group to share our experiences as software developers, learn from our colleagues, and foster collaborations.
If you develop software for research or academic projects, ICER encourages you to join! If you know someone in your group, unit, or college who does, please forward this information or let them know. This group is also interested in those who may not be from traditional software development backgrounds or from under-represented groups in the tech industry. This will be a community-driven organization that is not affiliated with any particular MSU Unit. The structure and activities will be group-driven.
The first meeting will be on Thursday, March 7, at 3:30 pm in room 1400 Biomedical and Physical Sciences (BPS) Building, 567 Wilson Road, on the MSU Campus. Drinks and afternoon snacks will be provided.
You may also attend via Zoom https://msu.zoom.us/j/93481486004 Passcode: msu-rsd (MSU login required)
