2025 AI Symposium: Fear, Faith, and Praxis: Artificial Intelligence in the Humanities and Social Sciences

Please join us for the inaugural symposium on artificial intelligence in the humanities and social sciences. This two-day event will be held on Michigan State University’s campus on Feb 20-21, 2025, and available via live stream on the H-Net Commons.

This year’s theme, “Fear, Faith, and Praxis: Artificial Intelligence, Humanities, and Social Sciences,” focuses on student-centered approaches to the use of AI in pedagogical practice and reassessing previous assumptions about AI as scholars develop new frameworks for AI literacy and humanist engagement in the development of research tools.

Day one will begin at 9 a.m. EST featuring panels on teaching and learning, research, and the ethical considerations of AI across a wide range of disciplines. 

Registration for onsite participants will begin at 8:30 a.m. directly outside of the Big Ten C room at the Kellogg Center on the campus of Michigan State University

Parking is available in the Kellogg Center garage accessible from Harrison Road.

Day Two will also begin at 9 a.m. EST, featuring hands-on workshops for incorporating AI into teaching and research. 

The teaching workshop will be held in the Lab for Education & Advancement in Digital Research (LEADR) located on the west side of the first floor in the Old Horticulture building on the Michigan State University campus. Parking is available in Parking Ramp #6 located off Grand River avenue.

The research workshop will be held in the Digital Scholarship Lab in the MSU Library. Parking is available in Visitor Parking lot #62 near Spartan Stadium across the river from the Library.
