Accessing OR&I SharePoint Content as a Henry Ford Health Partner

Michigan State University and Henry Ford Health collaborate across research, education, clinical programs, and administrative activities. As part of this work, MSU’s Office of Research and Innovation may share specific files, folders, and other resources through Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.

This access process applies only to SharePoint content shared by MSU’s Office of Research and Innovation. It does not provide access to all MSU SharePoint sites, Microsoft 365 resources, systems, files, or university-wide content.

Because Henry Ford Health uses its own Microsoft 365 environment, HFH users may need to request additional access configuration or use a private browser window before they can open OR&I SharePoint content.

Option 1: Request access using your Henry Ford Health account

Henry Ford Health users may request access to MSU shared resources using their HFH Microsoft 365 account.

Once submitted, the request will be reviewed and access will be granted where appropriate.

Option 2: Access content using your MSU credentials

Some Henry Ford Health collaborators may also have MSU credentials. If you have an MSU NetID or MSU Microsoft 365 account, you may be able to access shared MSU content directly using those credentials.

Because your browser may already be signed in to your Henry Ford Health Microsoft 365 account, we recommend using an incognito or private browser window when signing in with your MSU credentials.

How to use an incognito or private browser window

  1. Open a private browsing window:
    • Google Chrome: Select the three-dot menu, then choose New Incognito Window
    • Microsoft Edge: Select the three-dot menu, then choose New InPrivate Window
    • Safari: Select File, then choose New Private Window
    • Firefox: Select the menu button, then choose New Private Window
  2. In the private window, open the MSU SharePoint link that was shared with you.
  3. When prompted to sign in, enter your MSU email address or MSU NetID credentials.
  4. Complete any required multi-factor authentication steps.
  5. After you are signed in, the SharePoint content should open if your MSU account has been granted access.

Using a private browser window helps prevent Microsoft 365 from automatically signing you in with your Henry Ford Health account when the content requires MSU credentials.

Which option should I use?

Use the HFH account access request form if you want to access MSU SharePoint content using your Henry Ford Health Microsoft 365 account.

Use an incognito or private browser window with your MSU credentials if you already have an MSU account and the content has been shared with that account.
