The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. For more than 60 years, NIAID research has led to new therapies, vaccines, diagnostic tests, and other technologies that have improved the health of millions of people in the United States and around the world.
The Michigan State University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (MSU-CTSI)
The service units of Office of Clinical Research (OCR) and Biomedical Research Informatics Core (BRIC) are within the MSU-CTSI as part of its cross-cutting key research core. OCR’s mission is to serve the need for enhanced support of clinical and translational research. BRIC’s mission is to provide high-level informatics and information technology support to clinical and translational researchers.

The Center for Statistical Training and Consulting (CSTAT; pronounced cee-stat)is a professional service and research unit at Michigan State University. Our aim is to support research and provide training, grant development, and consulting in statistics for faculty, staff, and graduate students.
MSU’s National Food Safety and Toxicology Center conducts research that increases the understanding of chemical and microbial hazards in foods, and uses this knowledge to develop a safer food supply, a well-founded public policy, and a greater public understanding of food safety issues. The Center’s expertise applies to every stage of the food system; from food, animal, and plant production, to processing and packaging, to retailing and food preparation in the home or institution.
The Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum (CSMC) is funded by the National Science Foundation (Award No. ESI-0333879). The CSMC serves the K-12 educational community by focusing scholarly inquiry and professional development around issues of mathematics curriculum. Major areas of work include understanding the influence and potential of mathematics curriculum materials, enabling teacher learning through curriculum material investigation and implementation, and building capacity for developing, implementing, and studying the impact of mathematics curriculum materials.
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) [42 U.S.C. 4321 et seq.] was signed into law on January 1, 1970. The Act establishes national environmental policy and goals for the protection, maintenance, and enhancement of the environment and provides a process for implementing these goals within the federal agencies. The Act also establishes the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ).
The responsible and ethical conduct of research (RCR) is critical for excellence, as well as public trust, in science and engineering. Consequently, education in RCR is considered esential in the preparation of future scientists and engineers.
