Michigan State University has over 900 registered Student Organizations.
RSOs cover a wide range of topics and interest areas, including but not limited to: academic, business, environmental, international, political, racial/ethnic, religious, women’s interests, and sports and leisure.
The Department of Student Life recognizes these organizations with the University through an annual registration process. Once registered, RSOs can plan and sponsor activities on campus, apply for funding, and participate at events.

The Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Finance and Operations, and the Vice President for Student Affairs and Services share responsibility for providing pluralism, diversity, and multicultural programs. The University’s holistic approach includes such themes as gender, racial-ethnic minorities, disabilities, and sexual orientation. The Coalition of Racial/Ethnic Minorities (COREM) serves in an advisory and advocacy capacity on faculty and staff issues.
The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation was formerly the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies (OVPRGS).
The title for the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies was changed in January of 2019. The position is now called the Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation (OSVPRI) and is currently held by Stephen Hsu.

The Diversity Research Network (DRN) connects faculty of color and scholars interested in diversity research, to create scholarly communities, facilitate new interdisciplinary collaborations, and to advance the growth and visibility of research by underrepresented faculty as well as research on diversity across MSU. The DRN emphasizes MSU’s value of diversity as excellence across all disciplines, and promotes this value through the support and resources it offers.
