Institute for Cyber Enabled Research

The Institute for Cyber-Enabled Research (iCER) at Michigan State University (MSU) was established to coordinate and support multidisciplinary resources for computation and computational sciences. The Center's goal is to enhance MSU's national and international presence and competitive edge in disciplines and research thrusts that rely on advanced computing.

Learning and Assessment Center

The  Learning and Assessment Center simulates and assesses key steps in the work of doctors, nurses, veterinary technicians and other health professionals. When combined, simulation, performance and knowledge-building techniques produce “practice-ready” graduates. LAC students who enter practice are not only knowledgeable, but skilled, confident and safe to work with real-world patients.

Center for Integrative Studies in General Science

The mission of the Center for Integrative Studies–General Science is to provide MSU students with an understanding of major concepts in the biological and physical sciences and the process of scientific inquiry that leads to new discoveries, and a deeper appreciation for how science is connected to other kinds of knowledge.  Students in ISGS classes develop critical thinking skills through active learning that empowers them to make observations and reach conclusions based on scientific reasoning, and to realize the critical role of science in their own lives.

Institutional Biological Safety Committee

Julian Samora Research Institute

The  Julian Samora Research Institute (JSRI) is committed to the generation, transmission, and application of knowledge to serve the needs of Latino communities in the Midwest.

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, U.S. Public Law 104-191, included requirements to develop and adopt national standards for privacy protection of individually identifiable health information and for electronic health care transactions.

Committee on Institutional Cooperation

Headquartered in the Midwest, the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) is a consortium of the Big Ten member universities plus the University of Chicago. For more than half a century, these world-class research institutions have advanced their academic missions, generated unique opportunities for students and faculty, and served the common good by sharing expertise, leveraging campus resources, and collaborating on innovative programs. Governed and funded by the Provosts of the member universities, CIC mandates are coordinated by a staff from its Champaign, Illinois headquarters.

Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics

The Physics Frontier Center JINA (Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics) at the University of Notre Dame, Michigan State University, the University of Chicago, and Argonne National Laboratory will provide an intellectual center with the goal to enable swift communication and stimulating collaborations across field boundaries and at the same time provide a focus point in a rapidly growing and diversifying field.
